Ki Tetze: When You Go Out

More Laws (Are some of these repeats from before?)

Warning: this parsha (and its corresponding podcast) mentions things that get a little spicy, including rape, virgins, (suspected) adultery, male or female prostitutes, a woman grabbing a man’s bits, anti-cross-dressing sentiments, and pooping outside of the camp. Don’t listen to this week’s parsha podcast if you want to believe that the Torah never mentions such things.

The book I mentioned is The Year of Living Biblically by A. J. Jacobs.

I believe that the Torah is against genetically modifying foods. Decide for yourself, based on the verse in this week’s parsha, Devarim (Deuteronomy) 22:9.

And, finally, a discussion about what it means to fear G-d. Anybody who breaks the Noahide laws, which are upon all of humanity, including not to rape, murder, or steal, does not fear G-d, even if they are screaming about G-d as they do those things. Don’t forget to wipe out the memory of them from beneath the heavens.
