When Chaya Lev invited me to her bi-weekly women’s “Torah and Tacos” study group, I had no idea that the group’s other co-founder had been part of a Netflix series, and had 40,000 followers of her own content. Cindy Seni is a fellow Canadian olah, who is also an actress, content creator, and writer (she has a book of poetry and a novel waiting for a publisher.) She makes amazing short films about life in Israel, and has created an online community where she shares, among other things, about her married life.
Cindy’s Sephardi roots hail from an Italian, Tunisian, Turkish, Libyan, and Spanish heritage. She was born in France, moved to Canada at age 6, and made Aliyah at 24 where she joined the army in the spokesperson’s unit. We talked about how she worked her way up in the “influencer” sphere, where she is now learning to separate content creating and social media from her real life (which is much nicer and more healthy than what’s online.) Shortly after being featured on “Jewish Matchmaking,” she met the man who became her husband. She shared with me the advice that helped her get married. Dating coach Aleeza Ben Shalom told her to persist, and not break up without having a good reason.
Cindy’s brand is all about Jewish Joy. Her message is to find the joy and light in simple, routine things. Persevere in making the world a better place.
